Dog Race Time

This weekend we went to Old Cantwell for Spring Rhondy and played lots of games.
But the most fun was on Sunday; it was a dogsled race! I got 5th place! My brother got 2nd. For our prizes we were given shirts that say "Cantwell Spring Rhondy".

My dogs' names were Muckluck and Timmy. They went really fast! If I ever have dogs when I grow up their names will be Timmy and Muckluck. (Mucklucks are a type of soft boot traditionally made out of reindeer or sealskin.)

I stood on two skiis attached to the dogsled. We followed a snowmachine to keep the dogs going. I finished the race in one minute and 40 seconds. It was really fun! For most of the time while I was there, I rode in the back of a sled attached to the snowmachine.

Test for Martial Arts

This week, we went to the school because Connor and I were having a martial arts test. Our teachers are Mr. Holum and Mr. Rucker. We have 9 students in our class now, including me and Connor. I am working the most on my form, and my favorite move is the spinning back-kick. We get a belt when we complete a rank. It was fun, and I got a rank higher! My new belt is yellow. I love you all.

Spelling this Week

This week I started something new in school called "Spelling". The list of spelling words Mom gave me is:

And I know all of them! The things I did to help me study for them were putting them in alphabetical order, a crossword puzzle, an oral quiz, and writing sentences. Then there was my test. And it was fun. I got a 100%! I miss you all.

Dancing in the Show

Yesterday, we went to a variety show and I danced in it! It was on February 29th, and it was in Healy at the school. A music teacher named Mrs. Mudge was in charge of it. There were 25 acts that different groups of students performed, including me!

I chose to dance to "Give Thanks" to honor God and because it is a very graceful song. I did a ballet dance and chose my own moves.

Lots of people that I knew came to watch me. That made me feel good. It was very fun, and I didn't feel nervous.

The Good Snow Fort

This week we made a snow fort in a big hill that Mr. Chesley snow blowed. First, we dug a big hole in the side at the bottom. Then we curved the hole toward the other end of the snow hill by chipping away at the inside with e-tools (little shovels) and dragging the snow out with our hands. Now it is tall enough for me to stand and bend over inside!

For Valentine's Day, I got a scarf that my Grandma knitted for me. My brother got one just the same, except it is green. It is very pretty and warm, and if you wrap it a certain way I can look like Little Red Riding Hood! I don't wear it when I'm playing rough outside or else it would get ruined. Instead, I will wear it when I'm on a walk and it is 20 or 30 degrees above.

Making Candles

On February 8th, we made candles in our house, and I got my own.
It is heart-shaped and pink!

First, we chopped the wax into pieces, and then we melted the wax in a pot on the stove. I watched the wax melt and stirred it with a stick. Dad and Connor put in the wicks by gluing each wick to the bottom of the containers and holding the wicks straight using sticks with holes in them. Then, after the wax had melted, Dad poured it into the containers. We made some white, and then added dye to make pink and red. Mine looked very pretty!

Today we visited a lady in town, and she gave me some necklaces! One of my necklaces is green with pink jewels on the side, and it is a cross. Another one is a gold cross. The third is a heart with a four-leaf clover in it. The fourth one is a metal, pretend key.

Dance Concert

I have decided to make up a dance for a talent show. If I am the one making it up, then I am the choreographer. I'm going to tell you some of my moves. I am doing a twirl, ron de jon, curtsie, shuffle, "pick up the flowers", and arabesque. The song that I am dancing to is "Give Thanks". I chose this song because it is very graceful. I am very good at it.

The talent show is February 22nd. There will be many other types of performances, but I am doing a dance. It will be held at the school in Healy, and the person who is in charge of it is my music teacher from when I was going to Cantwell School. I can't wait to see her again!
